Stockpiling or Hoarding?
A sensitive subject in the Coupon World I know, but one I feel that needs to be covered. On Midwest Coupon Clippers Facebook Page, I have often heard, “I would LOVE to see a picture of your Stockpile!” Well Folks, You would be surprised to know, I ONLY have TWO Shelf Units in my kitchen. YES…ONLY TWO, and NOT all the shelves are for my “Stockpile.”
Yes I own a Coupon Blog, Yes I shop the Sale Cycles, Yes I am a big double Coupon Shopper…BUT that DOES NOT MEAN I am a Hoarder! On my blog page, Midwest Coupon Clippers, you WILL NOT SEE the bragging pictures of shelves and shelves full of product.
Honestly, I DO NOT SEE THE POINT. Sure, I could get 100 Razors, 100 boxes of noodles, 100 boxes of cereal, etc. for FREE…BUT WHY?
Ever had these little guys?
Once you get Pantry Moths, Getting rid of them is NO SIMPLE or in expensive task! And if you over the top stockpile, I guarantee YOU WILL GET THEM! They are already in the food you are buying. Flour, Pastas, Cereals, even Dog Food. Once this happens, ALL your Stockpile, ALL the money spent on buying coupon inserts or the ink and paper printing them is wasted.
I think often the “Stockpiling Obsession” is not about using the products, it is about that little “Rush” you get seeing everything you got for so cheap or often FREE.
If you need that feeling…that rush…that excitement of getting that deal… ADD TO THAT EXCITING FEELING and Donate these products you are “Scoring.” There honestly is no better feeling in the world then knowing you are helping someone in need! Be it another human being, or Animal. Donate, Donate, Donate.
Now, Let me explain to you what I DO Stock up on for our family personally! I shop sale cycles. (You can learn more how to do this HERE) We use a lot of BBQ Sauce, so when the summer sales hit and the coupons are out, I grab usually twenty to thirty to last throughout the year. For example last June, I got 25 bottles of Sweet Baby Rays FREE Thanks to the Sales and Coupons that were out. A few weeks ago I did the same for this year. About eight months ago I got $1/1 Gatorade Coupons, When my store ran these on sale, I not only got the Gatorade for FREE but it also turned this coupon into a $$ MoneyMaker $$ for me which in turn I could use the overage towards other groceries, like produce and meats. In this case, I stockpiled 50 to 75 Gatorades with Summer coming up at that point and Gatorade being one of my sons favorite beverages when he is out doing his sports, I knew these would be used. Another example, I recently got Snasuage Dog Treats for FREE with a Coupon and a Sale. I pre-ordered 30 of these, Kept 15 for our family dogs, and donated the other half. Besides these products, I DO NOT have an over abundance of any other products. At most maybe six of some, four or so of another.
Remember Folks, there is a FINE LINE between stockpiling and hoarding, which time and time again I see people crossing to the dark side. Stockpiling takes up room (A LOT OF ROOM) MONEY and Time! Why not keep a reasonable amount, and donate the rest? You will find a system that works right for you by buying less on a more frequent schedule. You will spend less, not waste as much, and MOST IMPORTANT be able to donate your extras and HELP OTHERS!

My four-year old is starting to take interest in helping my cook. So I am going to try to make ” Cooking with you Kids” a weekly blog post with a new recipe each week.
Another bonding idea is to let your child(ren) have the coupons and list in their hands and let them pick out the items for their special dinner 🙂

Phone Scam: MANY are falling for this!
One Stop E-Solutions
Update from November 13th, 2013 The Phone call I just got now was from an “Unknown Number”
Number on Caller Id: New York Call – 1-888-458-9001
This is a SCAM, but because of what they do people are falling for it! PLEASE pass this information on and lets stop them!
When they call they have your name and make you believe they are calling from your computer provider or Microsoft Windows tech support and that there have been reported problems with windows software and just want you to check your computer. They will then give you a run prompt command to do on your computer to check. OF COURSE it is going to pull up this warning, it is part of the windows system! WHEN this warning pops up…WHICH MIND YOU it is just a picture of the warning… but not many people realize this, they say OMG close it quick! Here is what we need to do to get rid of it…and they try and sell you a “software program.”
I did listen to his whole call…I knew it was a scam from my husband warning me about it awhile back…but being in telemarketing in the past, I was curious as to how they were tricking so many people! THEY ARE GOOD! Needless to say he was not real happy with me when I called him out and got VERY disrespectful with me.
DO NOT FALL FOR THIS!
Luden’s Throat Drops & Supplement Drop Review
Luden’s Throat Drops
When I was asked to do a Luden’s Throat Drop Review, I have to admit, it got a little emotional for me. Yes emotional. Reason being it brought back many childhood memories, WONDERFUL memories of my Grandmother. Let me explain…
Who remembers this box?
My grandmother at ALL TIMES carried a box of Luden’s Wild Cherry “Cough Drops” in her purse. ESPECIALLY on Sundays when we went to church. Through out the service my sister and I would dig through Grandmas purse grabbing one of these delicious little gems. To this day, whenever I see the Luden’s brand or even smell cherry, it reminds me of my Grandma.
Ok, Back to my review!
I have to admit, Until I was contacted to do a review on this product, I honestly have not had any Luden’s products since I was given them by my Grandmother. Imagine my surprise when I got a box with three different flavors. Orange Supplement Drops made with REAL Orange Juice, Wild Berry Assorted Flavors, and Sugar Free Wild Cherry. Of course I have to try the Wild Cherry first…
With it being Sugar Free, I did not expect it to taste the same as the “GOOD OLD DAYS”, but it really did! That amazing Wild Cherry goodness, No “Non Sugar” taste at all. (You know that taste I mean that some sugar-free products have) For fun I even had my son and husband try both the Wild Cherry Sugar Free & The Wild Berry and tell me which one was sugar-free…AND NEITHER ONE OF THEM COULD TELL!
I especially like the Wild Berry. The dark purple…YUMMY! I know they say to let it slowly dissolve in your mouth, but it took all I had not to bite into this one!

Mmmmm…I have saved the best for last! The NEW Ludens Orange Supplement Drops made with REAL ORANGE JUICE! AMAZING! Even better than the flavor is the fact you get 100% Daily Value of Vitamin C. My son thinks they taste like Orange Popsicles and though I can not get him to remember to take his vitamins, he has no problem remembering to grab a few of these each day! These are TRULY A MUST TRY!
Right now Luden’s is having a LaLa Luden’s Jingle Contest. Enter before June 29th on their website HERE. Click on the LaLa Luden’s banner at the top of the page. You can also print a $1/2 Ludens Coupon HERE.
Now, Who wants to win 3 Bags of the flavors I spoke about above? Enter in the Rafflecopter form below. I will draw TWO WINNERS!
Welch’s Filled Licorice Candy
Welch’s Filled Licorice
Strawberry & Concord Grape
When I was first contacted about doing a product review on Welch’s new filled licorice, I was a little skeptical if I would like it or not. I do enjoy licorice, but the idea of jelly in a stick of licorice? Hmm…Interesting I guess?!? Not saying it would not be good, but sometimes I have a texture issue with foods, and I was not sure about the jelly inside the licorice. In my mind I was imagining the fruit snacks with juice inside, not one of my favorites. Within a few days of agreeing to do the product review, my box arrived…It was time!
I have always been a fan of Strawberry, so of course that was the first bag I opened. The immediate strawberry scent after opening peeked my interest further.
First bite… WOW! GREAT Strawberry taste, licorice texture with a small hint of jelly, NOT a runny jelly though.
Second bite…Hmm…Kind of like a fruit snack, but better flavor, not waxy and blah.
Third bite, OH YES, this is going to be a new favorite!
Now it is time to try the Concord Grape…But first…Just one more stick of Strawberry!
Concord Grape, Same amazing smell when I open the Concord Grape Welch filled licorice, VERY pleasant. Biting into it, I immediately am remembering a childhood flavor…”What is that?” I think to myself!
HUBBA BUBBA GRAPE GUM…That is the flavor! I NEED to have my husband and son try these! Needless to say, they both REALLY enjoyed them, and my son enjoyed them so much that I only ended up getting that original stick from the bag, and since the original “Taste Test” My son has bought the grape bags twice.
Welch’s filled licorice is the first licorice of its kind, it is made with REAL FRUIT JUICE! Together Frankford Candy LLC and Welch’s have partnered to make an AMAZING new licorice for adults and children which I am SURE will be a very big hit!
Welch’s Filled Licorice is available in Concord Grape and Strawberry at retailers across America. You can purchase them in 1.75 oz (Suggested Retail Price $1.09) and 3.5 oz (Suggested Retail Price $1.59)

20 Years Later…I can FINALLY Leave the House!
20 Years Later…I can FINALLY Leave the House!
I know this is kind of a Taboo Topic, but I had to share this with all of you! I have literally suffered for 20 plus years when it is “That time of the Month” for me. Once I turned about 16, my menstrual cycle got so heavy, when it was that time, I could barely leave the house the 2nd and 3rd day of my cycle. No matter which SUPER PLUS Tampon I used (and yes I tried them all) I would flow through within a matter of a half hour, Even after my doctor put me on Birth Control to try and help manage it.
For 20 years, the only Tampon that would make it even bare able with a Maxi Pad on at the same time was Tampax Super Plus. (With these I could at least last an hour, sometimes two until I flowed through)
Recently (and yes, it was because I had a coupon for them and found a really good sale) I decided to try U Kotex. WHAT A DIFFERENCE. I keep asking myself, “WHY DID I NOT TRY THESE SOONER?” I have been using U Kotex Super Plus now for the last three months, and it is the first time in my life I can go and do what I want when I want during my Menstrual Cycle! YES, EVEN on my heaviest Days!
If you have suffered like I have, Please, Give U Kotex a try, You will be happy you did, I guarantee it! I have not been endorsed in anyway from U Kotex for this blog post, I wanted to write this post because their Tampons have truly made a HUGE difference in my lifestyle and wanted to share this with you all!

Cutting the Apron Strings – Do I have to?
Cutting the Apron Strings
Above is my baby, my only baby… Alex. In one month Alex will be graduating High School and will be starting college in Fall. I honestly can not tell you were the time has gone, It seems like just yesterday his Father and I were taking him to his first day of Kindergarten.
Well, the time has come to let him spread his wings and fly and start a whole new chapter in his life, Time for Mom to “Cut those Apron Strings.” Am I ready for this? NO, If it was up to me, I would be tucking him in my Apron Pocket and keeping him there FOREVER!
I have gradually been trying to prepare myself for this for the last few years. But guess what? IT HAS NOT WORKED! As the months have been passing, it is not getting any easier, and now that it is ONLY A FEW MONTHS AWAY, it is getting really hard!
Now…You would think he is going hours, or even a state away…he is not, he will only be about 25 minutes from home, which is STILL NOT MAKING IT ANY EASIER.
His father and him like to joke with me about it, seeing as I have informed them talking about it is “Against the Household Rules,” Which actually charges them all the more to see my reaction. Just little things through out the weeks, like “Alex you should take that for your dorm room” from his Dad, or “Mom I will miss your cooking every night.” from Alex. (Now this would be sweet in most cases, but this is him being a little pain in the butt because when it comes to cooking, I am no Rachel Ray.)
I have ALWAYS been very involved in Alex’s life, and I will be the first to admit, sometimes to involved. I am one of those Mama Bear’s who is VERY PROTECTIVE of my cub, I always have been and ALWAYS will be! I always know where he is, who he is with, and what he is up to. I was one of those Mom’s who would have wrapped him in bubble wrap if I could have. He did not learn to ride his bike until he was almost eight because I was afraid he would hurt himself, YUP that is me!
When we went for his orientation we were told “DO NOT call them, let them call you!” The moment they said this, My husband and Alex both looked at me. I am pretty sure I even laughed out a little giggle at this thought, I can GUARANTEE YOU that will not be the case! lol.
How am I going to handle this? I am not sure yet…But I do not really have a choice do I? I am sure there will be A LOT of tears, A LOT of phone calls, and A LOT of Dinner Visits up in Oshkosh!
What do I know? I know I have one AMAZING teenager, who if still attached to my “Apron Strings” or Not is going to turn out to be one AMAZING Man someday. The string on the Apron may be getting much longer, but it will always be there, because he will ALWAYS be my baby!
