Easter Brownies… Think chocolate, Peeps, and M&M’s!

Ingredients:

  • 1 box of brownie mix (could use chocolate cake mix, too) -plus ingredients to make brownies: eggs, oil, water
  • Peeps (2 packages, so about 20 Peep chicks or bunnies)
  • M&M’s – about 1 cup

Directions:

  • Prepare brownies as directed on box and bake about 5-7 minutes less than baking time called for (mine called for 24-26 minutes and I put them in for 20 minutes).
  • While brownies are baking, cut Peeps into bite sized pieces.

  • When timer goes off, take brownies out and top with Peeps pieces. *please note, I added Easter marshmallows at this point, too, because I should have had more Peeps – note 2 self, 2 packages of Peeps next time.
  • Put back in oven and bake an additional 5-7 minutes until Peeps are turning soft and just before they turn too brown.

  • While hot and fresh from the oven, sprinkle 1 cup of M&M’s on brownies.
  • Wait until cool to cut and enjoy!

Side Notes: Using different color Peeps would be fun! Chicks or bunnies both work! If using chocolate cake mix, instead of getting a cake like texture, to make them a bit denser like brownies, use 2 eggs & 1/2 cup oil instead of what is called for on back of box.

Wet Chalk Painted Easter Eggs (Kids Crafts)

  • Construction Paper
  • Colored Chalk
  • Painters Tape
  • Scissors
  • Water

Directions:

  • Cut egg shapes out of your construction paper, any color and any size works.
  • Put thin strips of painters tape across egg – diagonally, stripes, be creative.  *Please note, all I had on hand was the wide painters tape, so I cut it into thinner strips.
  • Dip one end of the chalk in the water and paint a part of the egg. Repeat with any colors or design desired until all visible parts of original construction paper parts are painted.
  • Remove painters tape.
  • Voila, you now have a uniquely decorated Easter egg!

Chicken & Broccoli Wrap

Ingredients:

  • 1-2 Boneless/Skinless Chicken Breasts Cooked and Shredded
  • 1 head of broccoli par steamed
  • 4 ounces of shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½-3/4 cup mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup parmesan cheese
  • 2 rolls of Pillsbury crescent rolls


Preheat Oven to 350 Degrees

Directions:

  • Combine all ingredients
  • Roll out both rolls across baking pan taking care not to separate into triangles
  • Spread combined mixture into the middle of the rolled out dough
  • Fold over remaining dough on top of mixture, you want to fully enclose mixture inside dough
  • Bake for 30-45 minutes until golden brown

Step-by-step: How to Delete Cookies

If you have internet explorer:

Step 1:
Click TOOLS. Then, in the options should say: DELETE BROWSING HISTORY (or you can click CTRL+SHIFT+DEL to do it faster) Click on delete browsing history.

Step 2:
After clicking “delete browsing history” a separate window should open and you should see this:

After you choose the items you want deleted, Click DELETE

It takes about 3 minutes (sometimes shorter) for mine to be complete. That’s it!

IF you have Google Chrome:

Step 1:
Click on the circled symbol (pictured below):

Step 2:

After clicking on the symbol above, click on HISTORY, then click CLEAR BROWSING DATA


Step 3:

You’ll see a list of options to choose to delete:

After you choose the items you want deleted, Click CLEAR BROWSING DATA

All-Natural Easter Egg Dye Recipes

Did you know you can dye your Easter egg’s with Natural products you have in your kitchen? No need for dye tablets, KEEP it Natural. You can get some beautiful colors! I do suggest putting down newspaper in any areas you will be working to avoid permanent stains on your counter tops.

  • Bluish-Gray

Mix 1 cup frozen blueberries with 1 cup water, bring to room temperature, and remove blueberries.

  • Blue

Cut 1/4 head of red cabbage into chunks and add to 4 cups boiling water. Stir in 2 Tbsp. vinegar. Let cool to room temperature and remove cabbage with a slotted spoon.

  • Jade Green

Peel the skin from 6 red onions and simmer in 2 cups water for 15 minutes; strain. Add 3 tsp. white vinegar.

  • Faint Green-Yellow

Peel the skin from 6 yellow apples. Simmer in 1-1/2 cups water for 20 minutes; strain. Add 2 tsp. white vinegar. Simmer 4 oz. chopped fennel tops in 1-1/2 cups of water for 20 minutes; strain. Add 2 tsp. white vinegar.

  • Orange

Take the skin of 6 yellow onions and simmer in 2 cups water for 15 minutes; strain. Add 3 tsp. white vinegar.

  • Faint Red-Orange

Stir 2 Tbsp. paprika into 1 cup boiling water; add 2 tsp. white vinegar.

  • Yellow

Rich yellow: Simmer 4 oz. chopped carrot tops in 1-1/2 cups water for 15 minutes; strain. Add 2 tsp. white vinegar.
Mustard-yellow: Stir 2 Tbsp. turmeric into 1 cup boiling water; add 2 tsp. white vinegar.
Various shades: Steep 4 bags of chamomile or green tea in 1 cup boiling water for 5 minutes.
Pale yellow: Chop 4 oz. goldenrod and simmer in 2 cups water for 20 minutes; strain. Add 2 tsp. white vinegar.
Faint yellow: Simmer the peels of 6 oranges in 1-1/2 cups water for 20 minutes; strain. Add 2 tsp. vinegar.

  • Brown-Gold

Simmer 2 Tbsp. dill seed in 1 cup water for 15 minutes; strain. Add 2 tsp. white vinegar.

  • Brown

Add 1 tablespoon vinegar to 1 cup strong coffee.

  • Pink

Faint pink: Chop 4 oz. amaranth flowers and simmer in 2 cups water; strain. Add 2 tsp. white vinegar. Simmer the skins from 6 avocados in 1-1/2 cup water for 20 minutes; strain. Add 2 tsp. white vinegar. Mix 1 cup pickled beet juice and 1 tablespoon vinegar.
Dark pink: Cut 1 medium beet into chunks and add to 4 cups boiling water. Stir in 2 Tbsp. vinegar and let cool to room temperature; remove beets.

  • Lavender

Mix 1 cup grape juice and 1 tablespoon vinegar.

Getting Kids to Eat their Veggies!

If your house is anything like ours, getting kids to eat veggies is like pulling teeth. Some nights, it’s not so bad, but if we cook anything beyond the most common veggies, they roll their eyes and throw a fit.

1. Don’t let kids think green stuff is bad. That’s right. If everyone in your family eats broccoli and doesn’t make a big deal out of it, your child won’t realize that anything is amiss. This includes both parents. If one parent happens to really hate that poor innocent broccoli, maybe that parent needs to re-visit the yumminess for themselves. Kids notice everything, and if the veggie in question never appears on someone’s plate, they will know.

2. Have a “Try It” rule. All vegetables, new and old, must be tried at least once (or twice, depending on your rule) every time it appears on their plate. The standard excuse of “I tried it last time and didn’t like it” will not work. In fact, studies show that repeat exposure to new tastes and flavors is often necessary before kids will like a new food item. In other words, the more often they try it, the greater the chances that they will like it until, one day.

3. Have a grocery store adventure where each person has to pick out a new vegetable to try. Make it a game. Research the vegetable online when you get home. Look for printables to color, the history of the vegetable, its origin and cultural traditions or even the tastiest way to cook and eat it. Involving kids increases your chances that their curiosity will be piqued. Jicama is a great veggie to test out this way. It is unattractive and resembles a potato. In actuality, you peel it like an apple, slice it and dip it in low-fat ranch dressing.

4. Think of creative ways to cook each veggie. If you have only ever served zucchini raw, try it sautéed in butter or olive oil. You can even make zucchini bread for a healthy snack. Cauliflower is good steamed and sprinkled with a little parmesan cheese and Italian breadcrumbs.

5. For younger children, host a family “color” night. Plan ahead and serve only foods in that color. Purple cauliflower or yellow squash might slide right by when the little one is having fun. The point is to make a game of it and not let anyone have the chance to think about it and complain.

6. Brave a messy kitchen and let them cook. Most kids learn by doing and this is no exception. For younger children you can start by mashing cauliflower instead of potatoes or even adding vegetables as ingredients to other dishes for older children.

Cheesy Potatoes (Must Try Recipe)

Micki’s Cheesy Potatoes
(Secret Recipe)

Think you have tried the best Cheesy Potatoes out there? Think again! This is my personal recipe I have put together over the last few years to get everything JUST PERFECT! It is essential you do not alter anything in the recipe. This is a double batch for our get together’s, if you want a smaller amount, you can split everything in half. Use the Ore Ida O’Brien with the peppers and onions (My hubby and son who do not like onions or peppers even love them) and very important to use the Campbells brand for the soups. Makes for the PERFECT consistency. Please make sure to bookmark this page, and come back and visit us after you make these delicious cheesy’s and let us know your thoughts!

Ingredients:

  • 2 Bags Ore Ida O’Brien Potatoes with Onions and Peppers (28 ounce bags)
  • 2 Can Campbell’s Cream of Potato (10.75 ounce)
  • 2 Can Campbell’s Cream of Celery (10.75 ounce)
  • 1 Can Campbell’s Cheddar Cheese (10.75 ounce)
  • 3/4 Container Sour Cream (16 ounces)
  • 1 Package Kraft Shredded Cheddar Cheese (16 ounce)
  • Salt & Pepper to taste

Directions:

  • Preheat Oven to 400 Degrees.
  • Mix all 5 Cans of Soup, Sour Cream, and Shredded Cheese well. Add Potatoes and continue mixing.
  • Use (2) 9×13 rectangular glass dishes and and separate potato mixture between both pans. I recommend spraying them with Pam.
  • Cover with aluminum foil (shiny side in) Bake at 400 degrees for 45 minutes. Remove aluminum foil, Stir, and reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake uncovered for an additional 60 minutes. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.

Ingredients:

  • Bread

  • Eggs

  • Meat of Choice

  • Pam Spray

Step By Step Photo Directions:

  • Preheat oven to 350 Degrees & Spray muffin pan with Pam

  • Use a circular biscuit cutter in the size that fits your muffin pan and cut out circle in bread (You can also use a glass)

  • Place the cut bread inside each muffin cup

  • Wrap your meat around muffin cup

  • Crack 1 egg at a time in separate cup and pour into each muffin cup

  • Bake at 350 Degrees between 15-20 minutes depending on how you like your eggs done.

  • I bake the leftover pieces of bread to toast them and place each egg cup in the hole

Home Made White Bread Recipe

Ingredients:

6 to 7 cups Gold Medal Flour
2 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon salt
2 tablespoons shortening
2 packages active dry yeast (4 1/2 teaspoons)
2 ¼ cups very warm water
2 tablespoons butter (melted)

Directions:

  • Mix 3 ½ cups of the flour, the sugar, the salt, the shortening, and the yeast into a bowl and mix thoroughly.  Add warm water and mix on low speed for a minute or two with an electric mixer, frequently scrapping the sides.  Then add 1 cup of flour at a time until dough is easy to handle.  What I have found is that you will add 3 more cups of flour to attain this.
  • Sprinkle flour onto the surface that you are going to knead the dough on and also on your hands.  You will knead the dough for about 10 minutes (it will give you one heck of a workout for your arms).
  • Grease a large bowl with shortening and place the dough in it. You will turn the dough to grease all of the sides.

  • Loosely cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the dough stand for 60 minutes or till it doubles in size.

  • Grease the bottoms and sides of two 9 X 5 loaf pans with shortening.
  • After dough has doubled in size push your fists into the dough to deflate.  Divide the dough into two equal parts.   Flatten each of the parts with your fingers or a rolling pin into 9 x 18 inch rectangles.  Now start rolling the dough tightly, starting with the 9 inch side.  After each turn seal the edge with your thumbs or fingers.  Once rolling is done pinch the the seam into the dough. Then each of the ends closed. Place the dough in the pans seam side down. Now brush the melted butter on the tops and sides of each loaf.bread5
  • Loosely cover with plastic wrap and let rise for another 50 minutes.

  •  Move your oven racks down so to allow the tops of the pans to be in the center of your oven.  Pre-heat your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Once the dough has risen, place in the oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes.  I have found if you use ceramic loaf pans it will be around 28 minutes and if you use a metal loaf pan it is closer to the 25 minute time, you will want to start checking it thou around 22 minutes.
  • Brush the tops of the loaves once again with melted butter.  Let cool for about 5 minutes.  Use a plastic spatula around all four side, gently lifting upward.  With oven mitts turn the pans upside down to remove the loaves from the pans.

  • Childrens Washable Paint
  • Art Paper or Canvas
  • Sponge
  • Newspaper
  • Clean Little Piggys (Feet)
  • Colored Ink Pad
  • dana step 1 to 4Step 1) Put down Newspaper
  • Step 2) Put washable paint on the bottom of feet and have them place them in V Form on Paper/Canvas
  • Step 3) Pencil in “L” “O” and “E” around the V
  • Step 4) Paint in Letters
  • Step 5) Let it dry

  • Step 6) Dab your sponge in the colored ink to make back drop pattern. Circles, Hearts, whatever you prefer!
  • Step 7) Dab around your “Love”
  • Step 8) Let it dry completely and Frame!

Tip: You could also do this on a T-shirt!
