pocket the change

Have a special trip you want to save for? Or a special gift you want to splurge on for yourself? Why not start a jar and start “Pocketing the Change!” We have been doing this for a few years now, and each year just before our Disney Trip we cash it in and have a VERY NICE amount that we use for those little extra treats on our trip!  As just an example, Week#1 we saved $19.49 in spare change, If we saved that each week for a whole year in change that is $1013.48.

Ways to Save Spare Change:

  • Break dollar bills, keep the change and add it to your jar!
  • Collect from dryer, cars, etc. and add it to your jar!
  • Find some change on the ground? YUP add it to your jar!
  • Recycle Aluminum cans, add that savings to your jar!

Set Goal of what you’re are saving spare change for i.e. vacation, new appliance, vehicle repairs, etc. you will be AMAZED how fast it adds up!

Footprint Mistletoe Decorative Keepsake Plate

If you’re looking for an adorable and fun craft to do with your children for the Holidays or even as a gift, try this! We made these great decorative plates in a day with my children for Christmas gifts this year! Any aunt, uncle or grandparent would love this gift! After a quick trip to Wal-Mart to get the supplies, we came home to tackle the project.

Supplies Needed:

  • White dinner plates:  We used the $0.88 MainStays Stonewear plates from Wal-Mart in their dinnerware department.  Cheaper than the dollar store! My store had limited quantities, so if you need a few, I would go HERE and order them for free site-to-store pick up!
  • Tabletop Easel: Because these are being gifted as Decorative Plates, I wanted to be sure that they weren’t mistaken for regular dinner plates. We found these in the picture frame aisle for only $0.97 each! Again, if you need more than one or two, go HERE and order them for free pick up!
  • Acrylic Paint: We stopped by the arts and crafts aisle of our store and got an assortment of colors for the light bulbs around the trim of the plate.  We chose the brand Apple Barrel with their Multi-Surface paint.  It’s easy to work with and wipes off little feet and hands quickly with a warm cloth! I picked up the small 2fl oz bottles, which is more than enough.  And a great price at only $0.88 per bottle in store but we found them for only $0.50 online HERE!
  • Black Sharpie Permanent Marker

Instructions:

  1. Paint the bottom of one of your child(ren)’s foot.  Put it at an angle when you put it on the plate after you’ve painted it.  Wash the paint off and then do the same to the other foot and again put it at an angle with the heels of the feet touching on the plate.
  2. Take your little one’s finger in the red paint and make the red balls at the top of the heels.  We did three!
  3. Let the paint dry before you take a permanent marker and make the string for the lights.  You could also use paint, but I had a steady hand with a marker.
  4. Once the paint is dry, start at the edge of the plate and make your loopy lines for the lights.  At the points where you want to add your thumb print lights, add little black squares & add the colors on top.
  5. Let air dry overnight and then wrap accordingly.
  6. ENJOY!

EASY Freezer Breakfast Sandwiches!

EASY Freezer Breakfast Sandwiches!

Pin this recipe for easy access later: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/420101471469485076/

Ingredients:

  • English Muffins
  • Eggs – 10 + a splash of milk & a pinch of salt
  • Breakfast Meat – I used Canadian Bacon… I was in a circles kind of mood… LOL
  • Cheese Slices – I used Sargento Ultra Thin Slices, so I could add 2 different kinds of cheese
  • Pam

What You’ll Need:

  • Short Cake Cutter
  • 9×13 Cookie Sheet
  • Blender

Step 1: Pre-Heat your oven to 375 degrees. Now, blend up your eggs. I used my Ninja blender to quick mix the 10 eggs with a little bit of milk… about a 1/4 cup and add a pinch of salt. Using a blender also helps get them FLUFFY, instead of dense.

Step 2:  Then spray your cookie sheet with PAM and pour out onto your cookie sheet. Put in the oven for about 20 minutes… give or take a few… until eggs are firm.

Step 3: While eggs are cooking I cooked my breakfast meat a bit, I also put the Canadian bacon on a cookie sheet and into the oven it went!

Step 4:  NOW it is time to assemble! Cut your English Muffins in half length wise. I used a pastry cutter to cut my eggs and cheese into neat circles! Assemble & TA-DA! YUMMY & EASY breakfast sandwiches.

Step 5:  Freeze in bags. Microwave 1-2 minutes (until heated thru) on a papertowel.  They taste EVEN BETTER after they were frozen and heated up for breakfast!
