What is the worst thing you can do for your Desktop Computer?

What is the worst thing you can do for your Desktop Computer?

This is going to surprise A LOT of you…But one of the worst things you can do to your computer everyday is shut it down! Booting and rebooting your computer can really take a toll on it!

A few years back, an IT person at where I worked told me this, and I have to admit I was skeptical, but I am now a believer! We have officially had our E-Machine now for six years! YES, six years with no problems what so ever for this cheapie desktop we paid under $300 for. Sure we slow down a little here and there, but it tunes right back up without a problem!

So, stop shutting the poor little guy off at night and give him a break, you will use a little more electricity, but in the long run you will save more than buying a computer every couple of years!

Okay.. that is strange you should say that. I leave mine on for weeks at a time. My computers rarely have issues and last FOREVER. My husband shuts his down faithfully and his lasts maybe 2 years.

Never shutting down the computer when not in use. Not protecting your computer with an antivirus or antispyware program.

True, ruined one computer doing that. What about laptops?
