Saving Star: How does it work?

If you are a little confused on how Saving Star works…Let me try and explain. Saving Star is a clipless coupon program. You become a member for FREE and it only takes a few minutes to set up. You then link your store loyalty cards to your Saving Star account. For example, In Wisconsin where I live, I put my Pick and Save loyalty card and my Piggly Wiggly loyalty card. Saving Star also has a receipt upload option for stores that do not offer loyalty cards (ex: Wal-Mart, Target, etc.).

Now, lets say Saving Star has a $1/1 Keebler Cracker coupon. I come to the Savings Star website, click I want that coupon, and it is automatically set up on my account. I go shopping to either Pick and Save or Piggly Wiggly, Buy a box of Keebler Crackers, and when I check out I WILL NOT see the dollar off savings right away on my transaction, but within about ten days, my store reports to Saving Star that I used that coupon. Saving Star then puts that $1 into my Saving Star account. Once I have gotten at least $5 into my Saving Star account, I can cash out that $5 and either have it put directly into my banking account, a paypal account, or even get an Amazon $5 credit. (It is up to me)

Be Sure to ACTIVATE the offer or offers you would like in Saving Star BEFORE you purchase the item or you WILL NOT be reimbursed!

Each offer may only be redeemed once.

Saving Star offers change ALL THE TIME! So keep an eye out! Every Tuesday Saving Star offers a “Healthy Offer of the Week!” What’s better then eating HEALTHY and SAVING MONEY?! SavingStar also offers a Premier Status. How do you reach Premier Status? All you need to do is redeem 6 qualifying offers each month! Once you have reached Premier Status you will be able to activate the 100% Cash Back offers! IT’S THAT SIMPLE!

Individual Pineapple Upside Down Cakes

July 29, 2015 By Micki Leave a Comment

Individual Pineapple Upside Down Cakes

Ingredients:

  • cooking spray
  • ½ cup butter, melted
  • 1½ cups brown sugar
  • 24 maraschino cherries
  • 1 (20 ounce) can crushed pineapple (reserve juice)
  • 1 (18.25 ounce) package yellow cake mix (and oil and eggs called for on the package)
  • 1⅓ cups pineapple juice (you just need as much pineapple juice as water called for on the cake mix package – see note)
  • confectioners’ sugar for dusting
Notes:
Just replace the water called for in your cake mix with pineapple juice. You should be able to reserve the juice from the crushed pineapple and have enough pineapple juice to use here. If you are a little shy on the amount of juice, just use water to fill the rest of the liquid called for in the recipe.
*Some people like the look of pineapple tidbits better for this recipe. I tried both and the crushed pineapple has a lot more flavor and looked prettier.

Instructions:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees and spray 24 muffin cups with cooking spray.
  • Line a work surface with parchment or waxed paper.
  • Spoon 1 teaspoon melted butter into the bottom of each sprayed muffin cup.
  • Spoon 1 tablespoon brown sugar in each muffin cup.
  • Press a maraschino cherry into the center of the brown sugar in each muffin cup.
  • Spoon a heaping tablespoon of crushed pineapple over the cherry and compact it with the back of a spoon into an even layer.
  • Mix cake mix according to the package directions, replacing the water with pineapple juice. This may vary according to which cake mix you use. In large bowl with electric mixer on low speed until moistened, about 30 seconds. Turn mixer speed to medium and mix for 2 minutes.
  • Pour pineapple cake batter into the muffin cups, filling them almost to the top.
  • Bake in the preheated oven on the middle rack until a toothpick inserted into the center of a cupcake comes out clean, about 20 minutes.
  • Allow cupcakes to cool at least 5 minutes before inverting muffin cups onto the waxed paper to release. Serve with pineapple and cherry sides up. Sprinkle cupcakes lightly with confectioners’ sugar if desired.

Cauliflower Pizza Crust Recipe

Cauliflower Pizza Crust Recipe

Pin it on Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/420101471472067671/

  • Healthy
  • Low Carb
  • DELICIOUS! Give it a try…

Supplies Needed:

  • Food processor
  • Cheese cloth
  • Parchment Paper

cauliflower pizza

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups florets only of cauliflower
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese (I used Kraft bottle)
  • 1/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 whole egg
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Directions:

  • Preheat oven to 450 Degrees Fahrenheit
  • Wash and Air Dry Cauliflower Florets (ONLY USE Florets) in a strainer. Mine took about 40 minutes.

cauliflower first picture

  • Place the flourets in the food processor and turn it on for about 1 minute or until all the florets look like bread crumbs. Mine took about 1 and a half minutes. (Should look like Panko Crumbs)

cauliflower second photo

  • Place the cauliflower on the cheese cloth and squeeze the water out!  This is very important. You don’t want your cauliflower crust to be wet or it won’t be crispy like a pizza crust.

cauliflower crust

  • After squeezing, transfer into a working bowl and mix the salt, garlic powder, Parmesan cheese and mozzarella cheese together. Then drop the egg into the mixture.
  • MIX WELL!!
  • Use parchment paper. Form your pizza crust to a circular shape or square shape, which ever you prefer.

cauliflower pizza 9

  • Put the crust in the oven for 10 minutes or until it has a bit of a golden brown appearance. Remove from oven and  start building your toppings! Put your pizza back into the oven for another 10 minutes or until the cheese melts. I like mine a little crispy, so I baked my pizza for 13 minutes.

TIPS:

You can fail at this recipe if you don’t squeeze your cauliflower!

IF you prefer, You can use 2 egg whites instead of one whole egg!

caramel puff corn

Caramel Puff Corn Recipe

Preheat Oven to 250 Degrees Fahrenheit

Ingredients:

  • Two 8-10 oz. bags hull-less popcorn corn puffs
  • 3 Cups brown sugar
  • 3/4 Cup light corn syrup
  • 3 sticks real butter (no substitutions)
  • 3/4 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 large roasting pan
(I use disposable aluminum roasters, they are large enough and easy to mix in)

Directions:

  • Bring brown sugar, corn syrup, and butter to boil over medium-low heat in large pot stirring regularly.
  • Boil for 1 minute.
  • Remove from heat and add baking soda and stir vigorously (it will become foamy and expand)
  • Pour caramel over puffs and stir to coat.
  • Bake in a 250 degrees Fahrenheit oven for 1 hour stirring every 15-20 minutes.
  • Remove from oven and cool completely.
  • Stir regularly to keep the cooling pieces from sticking together.
  • Store in an air tight container.

IMPORTANT: This will not stay crisp if made in humid weather or if left uncovered for long periods.
