Shop the Sale/Coupon Cycles

April 23, 2012 By Micki 1 Comment

Shop the Sale Cycles at YOUR Grocery Store

Do you buy your groceries as you need them? Or do you shop your stores Sale Cycle? Have you noticed in your couponing efforts, certain coupons come out at certain times of the year? This is a GREAT example of how the stores sales run also. Certain sales, at certain times of year!

If you understand how the Stores Sales Cycles work which usually pair up pretty good to the Coupons that are released, you will be able to build a  nice stockpile in no time!

Currently as I type this, It is almost Summertime, Which means Coupons for Condiments are coming out soon, (Ketchup, BBQ Sauce, Mustard, etc.) which is good for my family, because we only have three bottles of  BBQ Sauce left from last Summer. Did I mention all the BBQ Sauce I bought through out last summer I did not pay ANYTHING for, and in fact many were $$MoneyMakers$$ when I paired a good sale with a Doubled Coupon.

YOU CAN DO THIS ALSO! Start shopping the Sales/Coupon Cycles and you will save a GOOD AMOUNT on your Groceries each year!

January: January is usually the Month for Diet and Health and Wellness! You will see a lot of Diet Foods, Granola, Vitamins, etc. January is also Super Bowl, Which means you will find Coupons for Dips, Chips, Crackers, etc. With it being the Winter Months, you will also still see Hot Beverage Coupons, like coffee, tea, hot cocoas, and so on.

February: February is a HOT MONTH! Valentines Day, National HOT Breakfast Month, and National Canned Food Month! Expect to find Chocolate Coupons, Waffle, Breakfast Sausages, Aspirin, and lots and lots of Canned products, Fruits and Veggies especially.

March: March is National Frozen Food Month and time for SPRING Cleaning! You will find a large variety of Frozen Meal Coupons, Pizza, Frozen Veggies, Popsicle and More. You will also find many Cleaning Supply Coupons and sales to match. GREAT time to stock up on these if you have the room! Watch your sales, and you can get them for next to NOTHING!

April: April is a little slower when it comes to coupons! You will see some Egg Coupons, Candy Coupons, Organic Foods and Kosher product coupons, but when it comes to April, it is a slower month for Coupons.

May: MAY IS HOT! You will start to see the Condiment Coupons, Sun lotion Coupons, Bug Spray Coupons, Soda and bottle water coupons, WAIT THERE IS MORE… Hamburger and Brat Coupons (Grilling time) baked beans, hot dogs, paper and plastic plate coupons! You get what I am saying! It is also Cinco De Mayo, so watch for Tortilla and Salsa Coupons. I LOVE MAY COUPONS!

June: June is National Dairy Month. It is time for Milk, Cheese, Ice Cream, cottage cheese, and many, many more. These items are a little harder to stockpile…but REMEMBER you can freeze Milk and Cheese!

July: July is a continuation of June. A LOT of meat coupons, condiment, items like that. GREAT time to have a FoodSaver on hand!

August: August means BACK TO SCHOOL, which means you will find GREAT Sales on School Supplies and even Coupons to use on them! At these prices it is the perfect time to stock up for the year! Let’s face it, those pencils the kids go through FAST! Back to school also means “Lunch box” items go on sale! Juice boxes, Snack Packs, Peanut Butter, Fruit Snacks, and so on.

September: September is a continuation of Augusts Back to School sales, AND lets add Tomato Items. Spaghetti Sauces, Soups, Canned Tomatoes.  Time to stock up for those colder days and be ready to make Spaghetti and Chili!

October: October means it is time to get ready for the baking season! During October you will see lots of Sugar, Flour, baking powder, baking soda, etc. Coupons. You will also start to see Gravy Coupons, Stuffing Coupons, more of these starting to pop up.

November: November is the time for Seasonal Sales and Coupons. Baking items, Holiday Foods, Crackers and Snacks, Turkey, and more. (IF you are going to stock up on Flour, FREEZE or Refrig. it to keep away the pantry moths)

December: In December you are still going to see the “Holiday” sales, but you are also going to start to see cold cuts, soda coupons, and “celebration” type sales and coupons start to come out. I always stock up on my chips and jars of dip during this time.

The $22.79 Cadbury Creme Egg

March 30, 2012 By Micki 10 Comments

The $22.79 Cadbury Creme Egg

(The BEST I have EVER had!)

Written Easter of 2012

Let me start by saying, there is a reason for EVERYTHING in this world! Even my yearly craving for a Cadbury Creme Egg! I am not looking for praise or recognition, just a reminder to everyone to Pay it Forward in life <3 ~ Micki

The Cadbury Creme Egg is BY FAR my favorite Candy! There is nothing better then cracking it in half, licking out the creme, and then eating that AMAZING smooth milk chocolate! As a child, my mother made sure my Easter Basket was filled with them. And doing the best I could, I would ration them, eating only one every few days, seeing as I had to wait a year for them to come around again! As I have gotten older my Mom still to this day makes me up an Easter Basket and puts some in for me!

Last night, after a nice Dinner and evening with my husband, we were driving up Highway 41, when suddenly the craving hit me, I had resisted the temptation for the whole Easter Season so far!  Being close to the Kwik Trip by Fox River Shopping Mall, Hubby pulled in. (After twenty years of being together HE KNOWS when my sweet tooth hits, it is in his best interest to fulfill my request)

It was about 11pm, As we were pulling up to the Gas Station, there was a guy walking around the parking lot talking on his cell phone, which at that point, I thought nothing of it. We walked into the gas station, and I made a bee line to the Candy Section, Spotting a whole box of these little Gems. Glancing at the price, $.79, I thought to myself, “Oh My how the price of Candy has gone up in my 40 years of life!”  No hesitation though, I had to have it!

Walking up to counter, standing there was the Parking Lot Cell phone guy at that register next to me, he was talking to the Cashier and talking to someone on his cell phone also. Not trying to be nosey, but hearing, “No, it is not working, I am not sure what to do!” During this time the other Cashier was checking out a lady in front of us. As we stood there, we next hear “It is off of 41.” I still have not put two and two together. It is our turn next to check out, a few more minutes have passed. Behind us we hear him calling someone else, and him say “I can’t leave, they won’t let me.”

At this point two and two is equaling four! Hubby and I both look at each other at the same time. Looking over at the other cashier, My husband asks, “How much does he owe?”  The Cashier says, “$22” as my husband is already handing her his Debit Card. I turned around to the guy who is still on the phone trying to find someone to bring him some money and say to him, “Don’t worry, we got it!”  He literally stood there with shock on his face, then out came “No, you can’t do that.” After a little bit of persuading, he said, “At least give me your cell or address or something so I can send it to you.” I just kept saying “Not a problem, Do not worry about it.”  He keeps saying “Thank You, You have no idea what this means!” Shakes my husbands hand and turns and hugs me, and still as he is walking out the door with us is saying “Thank you and God Bless you both!”

We climb into our SUV, He climbs into his Mini Van and you can still see the shock on his face as he is dialing his cell phone. As we get back on the Highway, Carry and I both look at each other smiling, not saying a thing, Just smiling, as I slowly eat my Cadbury Creme Egg, Enjoying it more then ANY other one I have eaten in my life!

WHAT AN AMAZING FEELING to do something so little, that I know had a huge impact on not only us, but on the guy we helped, the Cashiers who both Thanked us and said it was so kind of us, and the other customers in the Kwik Trip who all stood there with surprised looks on their faces.

I would like to think, at some point, hopefully this guy will be in a situation similar to what just occurred and look back and do the same and Pay it Forward.  That $22.79 Cadbury Creme Egg was the BEST I have ever eaten, worth EVERY CENT!

STOP Complaining – IT WAS FREE!

January 26, 2012 By Micki 26 Comments

STOP Complaining – IT WAS FREE!

I am getting back up on my soap box here! With the recent “Oops” situations with Brita over their Rebate, The complaints on companies Facebook pages when they are offering a FREEBIE or a Coupon, and now the Kingsford Charcoal Coupon, and seeing how rude people are acting over all of this, I HAVE HAD ENOUGH!

People, These companies DO NOT HAVE TO OFFER US ANYTHING! Realize that! If you get a FREE product, or if you get a coupon, be happy you did! If you did not, OH WELL, be happy for others that did! Again I will say, these companies owe us NOTHING!

If so many “Fans” keep acting like this, and filling their Facebook pages, emails, and ringing their phones of the hook with negative comments and actions, WE WILL see NOTHING being offered by these companies, So who is getting hurt in the long run?

With the Brita Rebate, the company tracks how many Rebate forms are downloaded and printed. There were blogs uploading the PDF file to their own pages, which in turn the company does not know how many were printed. From what I am seeing with the Kingsford Charcoal coupon, THERE was a legitimate coupon through coupons.com for a short period of time, but there were also illegal coupons out at the same time. The ones that were printed on coupons.com are legitimate and will be honored and the stores you use them at will be reimbursed.

In both situations (Brita & Kingsford) the company is honoring the coupons or rebates. Was there really a need for all the negative threats on their facebook pages? COME ON FOLKS, they are just coupons!

And as far as Facebook pages offering limited freebies or Coupons. With the internet, and the hundreds of thousands of people’s rushing to their  pages to get them, YOU WILL HAVE pages crashing from too much activity, it is just how it works! If YOU CHOOSE to sit for hours trying to get a coupon or freebie at a site, and then are unable to because either they run out or they have technical difficulties, that was YOUR choice to sit there and wait!

Bottom line, If you are that upset (human nature sometimes), LEAVE THAT PAGE, No need to leave a nasty comment and ruin it for the rest of us in the future. If you are  like me, leave a comment and say, “Thanks for the chance!” If you get the Freebie or Coupon, MAKE SURE YOU THANK THEM!

Alright, I am stepping back down off my Soap Box…For now that is 🙂

Extreme Couponer = RUDE Couponer?

January 17, 2012 By Micki 8 Comments

Has anyone else noticed the PURE INSANITY in the coupon world lately? Since when did Being a Couponer mean Being a RUDE COUPONER? Sure there has always been the occasional RUDE couponer here and there, but lately, no matter where I go shopping, I am seeing them. Blocking the aisles, clearing the shelves, Not caring who’s way they are in or that they are leaving no product on the shelves for other customers!

The other night at my local Wal-Mart, there was a lady with two shopping carts, and a stack of coupons (and by stack I  mean a STACK) with her list in hand. She had AT LEAST 100 razors in her cart, shaving gels, and a GOOD amount of KY Jelly, when I left she was making her way to the Trial section. She was on a  mission, and did not care who’s way she was getting in with her two carts or the fact she was cleaning the shelves! I had to wonder with that many razors if she possibly had a family of Bigfoot and had a lot of shaving to do? Now you may be thinking what I did at first also,  She may be an ethical person and donate all her couponing products… but, I have found most of the people who donate (myself included) instead of clearing shelves, pre-order their products from the store, so that they do not clear the shelves! (This is just common courtesy to other customers)

Honestly, I just do not understand the whole “Stockpiling” concept, but that is a whole different blog post! I do understand “Normal Stockpiling” or products you use on a regular basis for different products that sale cycle on a yearly basis, but stocking hundreds of razors or boxes of cereal that will give you pantry moths before you even get to eat it all and take up A LOT of room in your house, I just do not get it! Ok…Sorry…I got side tracked, back to rude couponers…

Here are a few “Golden Rules” I wish all couponers would follow.

  • DO NOT CLEAR SHELVES! This is just down right RUDE! If you are going to take over 25% of the product on the shelf, walk to the service desk and order what you want! (I am sure you will be going back to the store in the near future)
  • DO NOT COPY COUPONS! It is illegal! This happens A LOT with coupons that give an overage or gives you a FREE product. Is that $.30 overage really worth having a criminal record or even worse going to jail? AND yes, THEY CAN TRACK YOU DOWN with the coupon!
  • DO NOT BE RUDE TO THE CASHIER! What gives you the right? How would you feel if she came to your job and was rude to you?
  • DO NOT BE RUDE TO OTHER CUSTOMERS IN LINE! Did your coupon not scan? You do not have enough items for a coupon and you got a beep? DO NOT HOLD UP the other customers waiting in line! If it is a quick fix, get it fixed, but if it is a lengthy debate, tell the cashier to either void out your order so you can fix your mistake (not the right product or not enough of the product) or tell them you no longer want that certain product and  just let your transaction go through, then go and deal with it at the service desk.
  • DO NOT USE THE WRONG COUPON! Make sure you get the right product and size that is stated on the coupon! Always check the product size and number of products you have to purchase to use the coupon. When the stores get reimbursed by the company they have to show the coupon went to the correct product, if it is wrong, THEY DO NOT GET REIMBURSED!)
  • DO NOT TAKE THE WHOLE STACK OF COUPONS ON PULL TABS! The store has put these there for their other customers also! Technically you are only supposed to take a coupon for the product you are buying AT THAT TIME, but if you can not help yourself, limit yourself to two coupons!
  • DO NOT STEAL FROM THE COUPON FAIRY! Did a nice “Coupon Fairy” leave some coupons by a product in your store? UNLESS you plan on buying that product right then, LEAVE THE COUPON!
  • DO NOT RESELL YOUR COUPONING PRODUCTS! You stockpiled products, Now you are going to turn around and sell them on Ebay or on Craig’s list? REALLY? If you have to EXTREME COUPON, what about turning around and donating those products? I can guarantee you that there are shelters in your area that could use these products!

Bottom line, no matter if you are couponing to help your family financially (which many many of us are now of days just to put food on the table) or if you are couponing to donate to your local shelters, lets all follow the rules and put an end to the rude couponers! Being a couponer is hard enough, with the actions above, this is exactly why we are getting the comments from other shoppers in line with us, or the attitude from some cashiers. Not to mention the restrictions stores are putting on coupons and transactions now. If things do not change, in a few years, or even less there will be NO STORES allowing coupons, and where will we all be then? Those of us who do coupon ethically will be wondering again how we can put food on the table, and the “RUDE Stockpiling GREEDY Couponers” will be left with a stockpile full of pantry moths! (Oh wait…and some silky smooth legs for years to come)

Let me introduce myself ~ Micki

December 20, 2011 By Micki 17 Comments

Hello, and Welcome to my Website, Midwest Coupon Clippers. I have had my website since October of 2011.

I am  Married to an AMAZING man, and a person I can say is TRULY my Best Friend! Carry and I met when I was 18 and he was 19, we were best friends for years, and from there, fell in love. We have had our ups and down like there are in any relationships in our earlier years, but now are inseparable, we have one of those relationships where we tell each other everything. We have one son who is 21, his name is Alex, and he is a chip off the old block, he is a carbon copy of his father, very kind, very soft-spoken, and smart as can me. He is currently a Junior in college, and will be starting Pre-Med. Pharmacy  after getting his Biology degree. We also have our Brittney. Brittney is 25, and who we like to call our “Dropped Egg.” In our hearts, she is our Daughter, and how much her and I are alike, is sometimes scary. She recently blessed us with a beautiful grand baby, Natalie, who is the apple of her grandpa’s eye. Britt and Alex even fight like brother and sister at times. (Oh the stories I could tell) We are so truly proud of both of them!

I have a few passions in life. My family first and foremost of course. I also LOVE couponing and living a frugal lifestyle, and sharing with others how to do the same! I originally started a Facebook page called Wisconsin Coupon Clippers back in the summer of 2011. I started this after watching a current T.V. show called Extreme Couponing. Honestly, I WAS SO frustrated when I watched it the first time, seeing people stockpile products like they were doing. And it was so unrealistic! I decided it would be a good time to start a page and show people how YOU REALLY CAN extreme coupon, for the right products and food and save your family a GOOD AMOUNT each month in your budget. I also wanted to show people, that YES you can get a lot of FREE products, but do you really need 100 razors, bars of soap, or pet food? Why not coupon, AND donate and help others at the same time!  Because of the phenomenal response I got on my Facebook page, I decided to take it one step further and start a website nationwide. My website Midwest Coupon Clippers, launched in October 2011.

Another passion of mine, is traveling to Florida (Gulf area) and Disney. 12 years ago now, we went on our first trip to Florida, and since then I have been hooked! We try to go at least twice a year if possible. I have a love for the Ocean, and could spend hours and hours just sitting on the beach, It is so peaceful and relaxing. After a week on the beach, we head over to the “Most Magical Place in the World.” Any of you that have visited the Magical Kingdom and walked up Main Street U.S.A towards Cinderella’s Castle knows exactly why it is called this. I not only love Disney because of the atmosphere, but also because of what Disney in general does for our enviroment and donating and helping worthy causes.

So that is me in a nutshell. I am a larger woman, or as my hubby likes to say,  “I am Pooh sized!” (Winnie the Pooh that is) It is who I am and probably always will be. I love myself,  and that is what matters! I have NEVER let my weight hold me back or interfere with my life, and never will! I am VERY outgoing, LOVE meeting new people, and I speak my mind. I love helping people and truly believe we are put on this earth to help others!

Copying Coupons is ILLEGAL

October 24, 2011 By Micki 13 Comments

Copying Coupons is ILLEGAL

One of the first things you need to know about printing coupons from the internet, is that you should NEVER, EVER copy them! Under no circumstances! This is illegal, and you will get caught, I guarantee! This illegal action is happening all over the place, and authorities are cracking down.

With most internet printable coupons, you are able to print two coupons per computer. You can do this by using your back browser after you print your first coupon. So, if you have two computers set up to your printer, YES you can print four coupons! Please note though, some coupons say one coupon per transaction. This means, you can only use one of the coupons.

For those of you that don’t know, each coupon that is printed through brinks has a unique series of numbers on it – along with the date and time that it was printed. It also has a 1 or a 2 to indicate if it was the first or second coupon printed from your IP address (www.veri-fi.com). After the original coupons are redeemed any other coupons with that exact same info come back from the manufacturer as fraudulent. There is a similar way of tracking for all coupons.

So please Folks, follow the rules, NO PHOTOCOPYING of coupons! You are doing something illegal, and NO product or overage is worth spending time in jail and having a criminal record for! Also remember, you are hurting those of us that follow the coupon policies, if these actions continue, soon all the stores will not allow any internet printable coupons!
