Footprint Mistletoe Decorative Keepsake Plate
If you’re looking for an adorable and fun craft to do with your children for the Holidays or even as a gift, try this! We made these great decorative plates in a day with my children for Christmas gifts this year! Any aunt, uncle or grandparent would love this gift! After a quick trip to Wal-Mart to get the supplies, we came home to tackle the project.
Supplies Needed:
- White dinner plates: We used the $0.88 MainStays Stonewear plates from Wal-Mart in their dinnerware department. Cheaper than the dollar store! My store had limited quantities, so if you need a few, I would go HERE and order them for free site-to-store pick up!
- Tabletop Easel: Because these are being gifted as Decorative Plates, I wanted to be sure that they weren’t mistaken for regular dinner plates. We found these in the picture frame aisle for only $0.97 each! Again, if you need more than one or two, go HERE and order them for free pick up!
- Acrylic Paint: We stopped by the arts and crafts aisle of our store and got an assortment of colors for the light bulbs around the trim of the plate. We chose the brand Apple Barrel with their Multi-Surface paint. It’s easy to work with and wipes off little feet and hands quickly with a warm cloth! I picked up the small 2fl oz bottles, which is more than enough. And a great price at only $0.88 per bottle in store but we found them for only $0.50 online HERE!
- Black Sharpie Permanent Marker
Instructions:
- Paint the bottom of one of your child(ren)’s foot. Put it at an angle when you put it on the plate after you’ve painted it. Wash the paint off and then do the same to the other foot and again put it at an angle with the heels of the feet touching on the plate.
- Take your little one’s finger in the red paint and make the red balls at the top of the heels. We did three!
- Let the paint dry before you take a permanent marker and make the string for the lights. You could also use paint, but I had a steady hand with a marker.
- Once the paint is dry, start at the edge of the plate and make your loopy lines for the lights. At the points where you want to add your thumb print lights, add little black squares & add the colors on top.
- Let air dry overnight and then wrap accordingly.
- ENJOY!
