This is going to surprise A LOT of you…But one of the worst things you can do to your computer everyday is shut it down! Booting and rebooting your computer can really take a toll on it!
A few years back, an IT person at where I worked told me this, and I have to admit I was skeptical, but I am now a believer! We have officially had our E-Machine now for six years! YES, six years with no problems what so ever for this cheapie desktop we paid under $300 for. Sure we slow down a little here and there, but it tunes right back up without a problem!
So, stop shutting the poor little guy off at night and give him a break, you will use a little more electricity, but in the long run you will save more than buying a computer every couple of years!
Do you do the St. Nick Tradition?
Does your family celebrate the St. Nick Tradition? I assumed everyone’s did, but I am finding out many do not know about him, especially in the United States, so I just wanted to take a second to explain in my own words.
St. Nick visiting is an old German Tradition my Mother always did for us kids, even as we got older. On the Eve of December 5th, Us kids would put outside our bedroom door our shoe or boot, or hang our Christmas Stocking so St.Nick could fill it with goodies! This usually included a nice little note letting us know if we had been Naughty or Nice and what we needed to improve on. (Of course always signed St.Nick) If you have been extra naughty, you would not get any goodies, just a lump of coal. (And yes, I had a few years of Coal)
I think St. Nick is a great thing to start as a family tradition for a few reasons. The first being, Kids get sooooo excited for the holidays, it is a nice way to settle them down a bit with just a few little goodies and trinkets. It is also a nice tradition they will carry on with their family. My grandmother did it, my mother did it, and I also did this for our son. It is a great way to help build your childs self esteem, When you write the letter, of course there will be a few “Need to improves” on there, but you can sandwich these comments with praise and appreciation for wonderful things they have done through out the year! Playing nice with their siblings, sharing, helping out around the house, etc.
Another idea I have heard others suggest is making December 5th a family get together, Instead of using their shoes or boots, pick up some of the plain old Red and White Christmas stockings and decorate them as a family event that night, then have them hang them out for St.Nick to fill and leave his special little note in!
Now…Who has heard about the Christmas Pickle? Oh the FUN we have with that on Christmas Morning when it is hidden in the Christmas Tree!
These are one of my families FAVORITES and so VERY Simple!
- Johnsonville Brat (Italian Sausage Variety)
- Bakery Style Buns
- Pizza Sauce
- Mozzarella Cheese
- Green Peppers
SOOO yummy, they are always a big hit at cookouts! (You can also fry these during those cold winter months)
Brownies w/ Black Beans
(They will never know)
WHAT? You want me to add black beans to my brownies?
Yup! You heard me right, add a can of black beans to your brownies! Black beans are cheap, healthy, and HIGHLY nutritious! They are also rich in manganese, protein, magnesium, thiamine (Vitamin B1), phosphorus and iron. They are loaded with antioxidants and proven to lower cholesterol.
It really is very simple! All you do is open up a can of black beans, drain them, rinse them, and put them back in the can. Add water to the top of the can, dump beans and water into a blender to puree, and then add to your box brownie mix. Easy as that! (You are eliminating the oil and the egg this way)
You honestly will not be able to tell a difference in the taste! (They are more of a chewy type brownie then a cake type brownie)
Copying Coupons is ILLEGAL
One of the first things you need to know about printing coupons from the internet, is that you should NEVER, EVER copy them! Under no circumstances! This is illegal, and you will get caught, I guarantee! This illegal action is happening all over the place, and authorities are cracking down.
With most internet printable coupons, you are able to print two coupons per computer. You can do this by using your back browser after you print your first coupon. So, if you have two computers set up to your printer, YES you can print four coupons! Please note though, some coupons say one coupon per transaction. This means, you can only use one of the coupons.
For those of you that don’t know, each coupon that is printed through brinks has a unique series of numbers on it – along with the date and time that it was printed. It also has a 1 or a 2 to indicate if it was the first or second coupon printed from your IP address (www.veri-fi.com). After the original coupons are redeemed any other coupons with that exact same info come back from the manufacturer as fraudulent. There is a similar way of tracking for all coupons.
So please Folks, follow the rules, NO PHOTOCOPYING of coupons! You are doing something illegal, and NO product or overage is worth spending time in jail and having a criminal record for! Also remember, you are hurting those of us that follow the coupon policies, if these actions continue, soon all the stores will not allow any internet printable coupons!
