Dandruff Control with Listerine

Dandruff Control with Listerine

If you have ever struggled with getting Dandruff under control,  you know what a battle it can be! Not to mention costly. Over the last few years I have tried every shampoo on the market, not to mention all the home remedies! (Oh the things I have tried!) I finally found one that actually works for me, and with regular maintenance now has kept it away!

Before doing this treatment, make sure it is dandruff (Seborrheic Dermatitis) you have and not just dry skin. The Listerine WILL dry out your scalp!

How I treated my Dandruff:

Daily for two weeks: Tilt your head back and put a capful of Listerine onto your scalp. (BE CAREFUL not to get it in your eyes – OUCH) Then comb it or brush (soft bristle) into your scalp. Let it sit on your scalp for at least five minutes. I do this while I am showering. Rinse it out and shampoo and condition as normal. (I HIGHLY recommend conditioning your scalp also afterwards because it will dry out your skin)

Maintain: After two weeks of doing this treatment daily, twice a week (a few days apart) do the same treatment above.

I have been following this regiment for a few months now and it works WONDERS! Right now you can get a Coupon for $2.00 off Adult LISTERINE Mouthwash 1L or larger

Please Note: DO NOT POUR Listerine on your scalp where you have any open sores or inflamed skin.

Keeping Black Jeans Black

Pampers

How to keep Black Jeans from fading:

First, ALWAYS start with washing your pair of black jeans in cold water with about a cup of white vinegar.  The vinegar sets the color like in coloring old fashioned “Easter Eggs”.

Keeping the color:

I ALWAYS wash my jeans in Cheer (for dark colors) OR Woolite!

Remember: LESS is MORE!
I use enough detergent to clean my pants because the detergents can be harsh to the fabric over time.

Turn them inside out!

When you dry them:

Dry on a low setting and only dry for about 30 minutes. If they are still damp, just hang to dry.

Reusing Wrapping Paper

Reusing Wrapping Paper

I remember all to well as a child, my Aunt yelling out at Christmas as we opened our presents, “I will keep that wrapping paper” or “Save that Bow!” Back in the day, I used to chuckle to myself thinking this was crazy, but now as I have gotten older, I have found she had the right idea!

Most wrapping paper can be recycled at the curb, but the pretty foiled, glittered, or even tissue paper you can not put out to the curb! Instead of filling our landfills that are already overflowing, why not reuse these gently used beauties! You will also save money on next year’s Christmas wrapping.

Re-Wrap

Any wrapping paper that has NOT been torn to shreds, simply roll back onto a wrapping paper tube. Does your paper have creases? NO WORRIES, put your iron on a low setting and do a quick swipe over the non patterned side. The creases will come right up!

Donate It

Most Art Teachers would be more then happy to take your gently used wrapping paper, bows, ribbons, etc. Little ones LOVE decorating art projects with colorful items. (Of course do not just hand the teacher a bag full of crumpled up tape filled paper. Cut off any tape areas, run a quick iron over them and either fold or wrap around a tube.)

Craft

Wrapping paper is PERFECT for Scrap booking, making paper beads, and more! Many crafter’s use left over wrapping paper for decoupage.

Wrap the Box to reuse over and OVER

Most of us reuse Christmas boxes. Why not take that left over Christmas paper, wrap the upper and lower part of the Christmas box for next years gifts! This way next year, the receiver does not have to rip open the gift, they simply lift the top off the box to view their present. You can reuse these boxes over and over again.

Sell it!

Yes, you heard me right, SELL IT! The more ornate wrapping paper crafter’s will buy! Give it a shot on ebay or craigslist.

Make Christmas Tags

Attach the wrapping paper to some card stock paper. Make gift tags for your presents for next years. You can elaborate them by adding glitter, ribbons, add a whole punch for attaching to gifts and more. Use your imagination.

Wrap your Ornaments

Extra crumpled wrapping paper works GREAT for wrapping and storing those delicate Christmas ornaments that you will be storing away until next year.

Packing and Shipping Filler

If you do shipping through out the year, crumpled up Christmas paper makes a perfect cushion for fragile items that you need to ship!

RAIDS Online

This is a new FREE tool that just became available in my city, so I thought I would share the information with you because I have found it to be very useful.

RAIDS Online  is a mapping tool that you can use to see what types of crime happened and where it happened in your city.  You can click on the icons to see what the details of the offense, change the date ranges and scroll the map around.  It is very easy to use!!

You can also set it up to get an email  (I have mine set up daily) and set up a distance for alerts for things that happen in your neighborhood.

This is useful to know what is going on and where it is happening in your neighborhood.  Plus if you are moving, you can use this to research different neighborhoods while you are house/apartment hunting.

While it is not currently available everywhere they are adding cities, so if you don’t see your city right now be sure to check back.  Check it out, I know I was surprised at some of the information that I learned.

Leave us a comment and let us know what you think!

Recycle those Odd or Old Socks

The Washer Monster is at it again, an odd sock here, and odd sock there! Wouldn’t you like to know where they go?

We have some suggestions for those odd or old socks that may be accumulating in your house! They have SO MANY more uses then just wearing them on your feet!

1) Make a Dust Rag – Adult size socks fit perfectly over your hand. Dip them in hot soapy water, and clean away! Or spray cleaner right on them while on your hand and dust your coffee table, furniture, and more! (I LOVE using socks on my hands for mini blinds)

2) Sock door Draft – These work best with Knee highs, especially wool socks! Here are step by step directions.

3) Heating Pad/Muscle Relaxer – Fill your sock with cheap rice and tie or sew closed one end. Place in the microwave for one minute WITH a glass of water. (Not in the glass, you just need the glass of water for the moisture so that your sock does not start on fire) After a minute check if it is hot enough for you, if you need it a bit warmer, go in 20 second intervals. Place on the back of your neck or achy joints. You can reuse it over and over again.

4) ipod Arm Band Holder – Do not spend $20 or $30 on these! Take an old tube sock, Cut off the top, fold over the edges, and use it to hold your ipod as you are jogging, walking, or working out!

5) Finger  Nail Polish Remover – Is it an old sock not good enough for other uses? Cut it up and use it to remove finger nail polish! No cotton ball fibers getting stuck on your nails that way!

6) Gardening or Work Shop Soap Holder – Put a bar of soap in an old sock and tie it to the outside faucet or utility room faucet. Works GREAT when you have some dirty hands to clean and it is always handy!

7) Make some Cat Toys – Take an old sock, add a bell and some plastic bags, close it up, and they will have LOADS of fun! The noise gets them every time!

Wrap some Breakables – Are you moving or have to store some breakables? Use old socks! They work PERFECT! (Also works great for breakable Christmas Ornaments)

9) Girls Socks – Do you have some frilly pretty socks? Turn them into doll clothes! Use your imagination.

10) Toy Holder – Have a bunch of little pieces to a toy that keeps getting lost in the toy box? Use an old sock to store them in.

11) Keep little hands Toasty Warm – Old socks work GREAT under mittens in the winter time! They give the little ones a little extra warmth!

12) Protect Your Shoes – Put socks over shoes to protect them during storing or while traveling to keep them from getting your clothes dirty in your suitcase.

DO NOT USE OLD SOCKS for Dog Toys. Reason being, Once you give them a tied off old sock they will sometimes think it is ok to chew on your other GOOD Socks.

❤❤ Handy Cookbook Hanger ❤❤

We all have these plastic hangers in our closet, Why not put them to some good use?

Tired of your cookbook getting messy with food splatter as you cook? Do you get a little kink in the neck as you look down at the recipe over and over again? Hang it right on your cupboard door next time! No having to look down, no having to wipe off flour, food, etc. after you are done preparing your meal!

Simply clip your cookbook or recipe to your plastic hanger, hang it from your cupboard hardware, and after you have everything done and cleaned up, take it back down and put it away!

Another added bonus, it leaves room on your counter for your little one to sit where the cookbook usually would be! We all know how much they LOVE helping us in the Kitchen!

Bacon Tips

✰✰ Bacon Tips ✰✰

✰ Rinse the Bacon Under COLD water before frying! It will reduce the amount of shrinking!

✰ ALWAYS start with a cold frying pan! (If you add it to a hot frying pan you will scorch it)

✰ Take the Bacon out of the Fridge 5 Minutes before frying, It will bring the fat back to its natural stage.

✰ ALWAYS use a flat pan (Cast Iron is my favorite) and NEVER overlap the Bacon.

✰ Want to Make your Bacon in the Oven? Pre-Heat your Oven to 350 Degrees, Take TWO Cookie Sheets, Cover one Cookie Sheet with Kitchen Paper (Parchment Paper) , Lay your Bacon down, Put another sheet of Kitchen paper on top of the Bacon and then put your 2nd Cookie Sheet on top.Takes 10 to 15 minutes depending on your oven. WATCH it closely, it can burn FAST towards the end.

✰ If you do not want the house smelling like Bacon or a lot of smoke, here is a GREAT way to cook Bacon. Put your bacon in the frying pan and cover the bacon with water. Start your Bacon on a HIGH heat until it starts to boil, then switch it down to medium…ONCE all the Water has simmered away, turn your bacon down to medium-low and continue cooking until it is crisp and well brown. You will end up with PERFECT bacon every time that is NOT tough or brittle, but this method takes longer.
