With today being Father’s Day, I thought it was a perfect time to do a post about my Dad. I wish I had some pictures, but realized when going to do this, I do not! lol. (That will be changing!)
Though my Dad and I are not as close as we used to be (Sometimes as we grow older, our lives just kind of get in the way) I know I will always be Daddy’s Little Girl, or as he used to like to call me, Booper.
Most Dad’s are pretty Amazing, but mine is EXTRA special for a few reasons. He is that type of guy who does EVERYTHING for everyone else without thinking about himself. He has one of the biggest hearts of anyone I know.
My Dad is a big fisherman. During the summer, if he is not home, chances are he is out fishing. Most of the best memories I have are those early Morning (and I mean EARLY) of him getting me up, packing things up, and him and I going out on the boat. Of course on the way to the lakes making a stop at Gas Stations and him filling the boat with our favorite snacks! Looking back I can not say it was so much that I enjoyed the fishing, but more so, spending those Mornings with him! It was our special time together. We would even do those late rainy night Nightcrawler searches together! NO ONE COULD catch nightcrawlers like my Dad!
My Dad is also a kid at heart. When it comes to Christmas, you just can not stop him. He has always made sure for myself, and my brother and sister it is the best day of the year! In our house, it was not us kids who were up bright and early, it was my Dad! Him and my Mom making breakfast, getting the tree filled with presents and making it extra special for us year after year. By the time the sun was coming up, if you had not woken up yet, you better believe he was getting you up! I remember the first year my husband and I were together, living on our own in an apartment. We did not have a car yet, and at 5am, there was a knock on our door. LOL, My poor husband, he still reminds me of that day every year Christmas Morning when it comes to our normal ritual of being up and ready and rushing to my parents before the rooster are even thinking about making a peep. Today, this tradition carries on with his grandchildren, he still is making Christmas EXTRA SPECIAL for us all!
Thank You Dad for always being there, the amazing childhood memories, and for not only being a Number 1 Dad, but now just as an Amazing Grandfather to our kids. I may not have always been the “Ideal Child” growing up (o.k. not even close) but I am the person I am today because of you after a few bumps along the road!
