Meet Garrett, or as he is known, G-Man. Garrett is a Sweet & Soft Hearted boy from Texas. I do not personally know him, but found his Facebook Page a month or so back. Please take a second to like his Facebook Page HERE, they are trying to reach 700 Likes!
He is 15 years old and has been diagnosed with cerebral palsy, severe development delay, and mental retardation. Garrett can not communicate like you and I can, but he does make gestures, and just his smile alone says it all! Garrett does say one word, which took him 11 years to learn, “Mama!’
Garrett loves Trains, Snowglobes, & Merry Go Rounds.
Garrett has been struggling with going to school, has no perception of distance, and traveling is hard for him because of his disabilities, so as a way to help with all of these, Garrett’s Mom has started collecting Key Chains for him from different states. When he gets up to go to school (which he VERY MUCH dislikes) He gets one of his “Mail Items.” HE LOVES opening them and it also helps him with his Motor Skills, but most important, puts a BIG SMILE ON HIS FACE!

In all honestly I have never been a big reader, mostly because I would get bored, lose interest and not finish the book. That was definitely not the case with Bent by HB Heinzer. Bent is an extremely, well written book and kept me hooked from the very beginning. The story has it all; love, mistakes, tragedy, secrets, fears, second chances and following your dreams . . . basically real life you are able to relate to. Oh and I can’t forget the steamy romance thrown in.
Micah and Julia will send you through a variety of emotions from laughing out loud, to crying with the character or the anticipation while you are sitting on the edge of your seat, just waiting to turn the page and see what will happen next. I fell in love with Micah and Julia, along with all of the other characters that HB Heinzer brought to life in this journey. I was extremely sad when I finished this book as I loved spending time with these characters and could feel their emotions.
I can’t wait to read more about these characters to see where they go next. I would definitely recommend reading Bent and I am looking forward to reading other books from HB Heinzer!
